Production Automation Engineer
MYCOTEX by NEFFA is seeking a highly skilled and innovative “Production Automation Engineer” to join our international, inclusive and dedicated team. The primary responsibility of this role is to bridge the gap between laboratory concept developments and full-scale production of products using our manufacturing method. You will work closely with internal R&D team and external production partners, to design, test, and implement automated systems for manufacturing. This role requires an in-depth understanding of design and robotic technologies, production scalability, and the ability to translate theoretical development concepts into practical, efficient, and high-performing production processes by setting-up an industrial system in place.
Key responsibilities
Translate Lab Concepts to Production:
- Ability to automate production processes from lab concept into industrial robotic-based production environments.
- Collaborate with R&D teams (material & application) to understand and analyze lab-scale design and processes.
- Develop strategies to scale up laboratory prototypes and processes into full-scale production systems.
- Ensure that production automation solutions are efficient and scalable.
- Add an industrial production perspective to the R&D team in the process of development of new in-house concepts regarding our seamless manufacturing method, moulds etc.
- Accountable for production manuals and working protocols and proper roll out at the factory partners.
- Provide technical product support and training to external partners on systems and processes.
Production Process Conception and Optimization:
- Conduct process analysis to maximize the production process and identify inefficiencies and areas for automation improvement.
- Design, develop and implement processes to maximize production and minimize downtime, waste, etc..
- Build on protocols and troubleshoot and resolve issues in robotic production process and automated production.
Documentation and Compliance:
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of processes, including technical specifications, programming, and maintenance guides.
- Work with external partners to ensure all robotic systems and processes meet industry regulations and quality standards.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or related field. (related to robotic models a plus)
- Proven industry experience (3-5 years) in automation (robotic or mechanical), or production engineering in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of robotic systems, industrial automation, and control systems (e.g., PLC, HMI,).
- Experience in sensor integration, data looping and industrial networks
- Good understanding in robot programming working with such as ABB robotics / Kuka Robots, understanding of design tools like Rhino, Grasshopper and Z Brush is a plus
- Experience in translating R&D concepts into scalable production solutions.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot systems and production issues.
- Strong project management skills and the ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to breakdown complex processes and systems into easily digestible solutions.
- Plus - experience with machine vision and AI in robotic applications.
- Ability to work in Amersfoort, the Netherlands (must have Netherlands EU visa or citizenship).
- Regular monthly travelling to our partners in Germany / outside the Netherlands.
- Clear spoken and written communication in English (Dutch is not mandatory).
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Successful scale-up of lab process and prototypes to full-scale production systems.
- Roll out with COO the end-to-end process to new factory partners.
- Improvement in production efficiency and quality consistency.
- Cost-effectiveness and ROI of implemented robotic systems with external Partners.
