Chemist / material developer
MYCOTEX by NEFFA is looking for a polymer specialist / material scientist that has experience in textiles, leather and/or composite applications. Your main focus will be on material development from mushroom mycelium.
Responsibilities (include but are not limited to)
- Conduct in-depth research on the properties of biopolymers and mushroom mycelium to develop innovative materials
- Maintain detailed records of all experiments and findings, prepare reports and present results
- Work closely with the product development team to integrate new materials into product designs
- Implement and execute testing protocols to ensure the quality and consistency of materials produced
- Manage timelines and resources for multiple projects simultaneously
- Develop strategies to improve sustainability of the whole production process
- Stay updated on industry regulations and ensure all processes are compliant
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Material Science, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred
- Profound knowledge of chitin, cellulose, chitosan chemistry, and ideally mushroom mycelium. Experience with other biopolymers is a plus
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Work independently and have a pro-active and hands-on approach
- Clear spoken and written communication in English (Dutch is not mandatory)
- Ability to work in Amersfoort, the Netherlands (and in possession of a work permit if applicable)
